The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta from under £17,000 ALFA ROMEO SETS PRICES FOR ITS GOLF RIVALEXCITING news from Alfa Romeo which has just announced the pricing for its Golf-rivalling new Giulietta hatchback.
Starting at under £17,000 the car wins handsomely on style with its very distinctive front end, similar to that on the MiTo and the 8C supercar, and a very neat rear end too.
As usual there will be a wide choice of engines and trim levels and the good news is that the MultiAir system finds its way under the bonnet. You can order petrol or diesel and trim specifications favouring a luxury or sporting preference and prices go from £16,995 to a whisker under £25,000 for the high performance Cloverleaf version.
This is a car tailored for modern tastes and by the accounts of some journalists who have had a quick preview of the Giulietta it has a higher degree of ride comfort than you might expect. This is good news for those condemned to use our worn-out road surfaces because while a really sporty suspension set-up might leave you with a grin on your face during a short test drive, the appeal can wear a little thin after a few thousand miles of crashing into potholes!
This is a big year for Alfa Romeo; the great marque celebrates its centenary in 2010 and having a new car like this Giulietta is entirely fitting. This is going into one of the biggest sectors of the market there is and I can see no reason why it won’t succeed. It has all the right ingredients wonderful styling, great engines, a good chassis and competitive pricing. What’s not to like?
There is only thing more I would love to see happen during this centenary year Alfa announcing that it is going back to sportscar racing.
