Prices for new VW Up! start at less than £8,000

THE order books for VW’S intriguing new Up! City car have opened ahead of the first deliveries early next year.
As an all-new replacement for the rather disappointing Fox, the Up! is a completely different proposition. By pushing the wheels as far into the corners as possible the Up! has room for four inside despite compact dimensions.
Power comes from a 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol engine in two power outputs and which, in the BlueMotion version, will average a claimed 67 mpg but even the standard models should average 60. However, the BlueMotion is expected to only produce 97 g/km of CO2 so it will be exempt from road tax.
Prices start at just shy of £8,000 and go up to more than £11,000. Initially it will only be available as a three-door but a five-door car will join in the second half of 2012.
